Zoustar Mare Wins Listed Silk Stocking
Talented Zoustar mare She’s Got Pizzazz burst back to top form at the Gold Coast on Saturday winning the Listed Silk Stocking (1400m).
A full sister to Group I winner Mizzy, the Dorrington Farm homebred won the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes last year, but has been winless since, albeit competitive in good company.
Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, She’s Got Pizzazz was dispatched to Queensland after a midfield finish in the Listed Hareeba Stakes last month.
Ridden by Jamie Melham, She’s Got Pizzazz charged to the line with a well timed run to win by a length running away.

“She jumped well and put herself in a good spot. I didn’t have any plans locked in, but I wanted to be as positive as we could. It was just a plan and you can’t always have the race run to what you want but that’s exactly what I wanted to happen,” said Jamie Melham.
“Today everything was perfect. She’s a funny horse because she doesn’t give you much when you go for her and I thought she doesn’t have much in the tank.
“She just takes a long time to wind up and I think she’ll be even better on a bigger track.”
She’s Got Pizzazz was retained to race by Robert Crabtree’s Dorrington Fam and has now won four races and placed five times from 16 starts earning over $488,000 in prizemoney.
She’s Got Pizzazz is a full sister to $1.8million earning Group I ATC Canterbury Stakes winner Mizzy, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $2.2million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
She is the second stakes-winner among three winners from stakes-winning Magnus mare Missy Cummings, a daughter of stakes-winner Lady Knockout and half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Laced Up Heels.
Missy Cummings had a filly last spring by Zoustar’s Group I winning son Ozzmosis and is now in foal to another young Zoustar stallion in Growing Empire.
She’s Got Pizzazz is the tenth Australian stakes-winner this season for Zoustar, who stands this spring at a fee of $275,000.
