Talented Zoustar mare She’s Got Pizzazz is enjoying her working holiday in the Queensland winter sunshine and captured her biggest win to date when taking out the $300,000 Group II BRC Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

A full sister to Group I winner Mizzy, the Dorrington Farm homebred won the Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes at three and the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman trained four year-old has soared to new heights in her current prep.

First and second at her past two starts in Queensland, She’s Got Pizzazz produced another great effort for Mark Zahra, even though the heavy ground was not her preferred surface.

She charged home with a well-timed finish to snatch a long head win on the line over Gerringong, who was having her first start for new trainers Chris and Corey Munce.

“She’s always been competitive in this grade and just found the 1200m a little short the other day. I’d probably like to see her on slightly better ground. She got there but never looked convincing,” said Peter Moody.

“All roads lead to the Tiara (G1 on June 27). That’s been the plan all prep. She had a fall in the Melbourne spring and it took a couple of runs to build her confidence back, but those last three runs and here today, I think there’s still a bit more to come.

“She loves her toe in, but today was at the limit. You could see the wheels spinning at the 300 and it took her a while to flatten out.

“I think slightly better ground and we will chase a Group One in a couple of weeks.”

She’s Got Pizzazz was retained to race by Robert Crabtree’s Dorrington Fam and has now won five races and placed six times from 18 starts earnings just shy of $700,000.

She’s Got Pizzazz is a full sister to $1.8million earning Group I ATC Canterbury Stakes winner Mizzy, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $2.2million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

She is the second stakes-winner among three winners from stakes-winning Magnus mare Missy Cummings, a daughter of stakes-winner Lady Knockout and half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Laced Up Heels.

Missy Cummings had a filly last spring by Zoustar’s Group I winning son Ozzmosis and is now in foal to another young Zoustar stallion in Growing Empire.

She’s Got Pizzazz is one of 11 Australian stakes-winners this season for Zoustar, who stands this spring at Widden at a fee of $275,000.
