Russian Camelot Filly Impressive at Sandown
Russian Camelot (IRE) filly Censori was back to her best at Sandown on Wednesday scoring a commanding win in the heavy conditions.
A stylish winner on debut last August at Sandown for the Danny O’Brien stable, Censori was sidelined after that win and did not run again until May this year.
She has taken a few runs to find peak fitness and was fitted with blinkers today for her first crack at 1600m with Lachlan Neindorf to ride.
Censori relished the task and galloped away from her rivals to win the Benchmark 64 event as she pleased and has now won two of five starts, so might be well placed to progress over the winter.

Censori was bred by Danny O’Brien in partnership and is raced by he and his wife after the filly was offered through Inglis Digital in 2023 along with her dam to dissolve that partnership.
“We bred her dam Berkshire Lady, who was placed in a Tassie Oaks and I also trained the grand-dam Placement, who was by Savabeel and went right through in the spring to place in a Wakeful Stakes and an Oaks,” O’Brien said after Censori won on debut last spring.
“It’s not often you have three generations of the same family to train.”
Censori is very much an O’Brien bred product as the trainer also prepared her sire Russian Camelot and dam sire Star Witness!
Berkshire Lady had a colt by Russian Camelot last spring and will foal again to him this year.
Censori is one of 17 winners for Russian Camelot, whose oldest progeny are three year-olds and they include Group placed horses Morgana and Beyond Question.
Russian Camelot stands at Widden Victoria at a fee of $11,000.
