Darley Princess Series Target for Trapeze Artist Filly
The $200,000 Listed ATC Rosebud (1100m) attracted a competitive field of talented three year-olds and the cream rose to the top when two Group winning fillies from last season filled the quinella with Chilly Girl surging past the favourite Blue Door.
A homebred for the Vieira family, who also bred and raced her sire Trapeze Artist, Chilly Girl won the Group III ATC Widden Stakes at her lone start in the autumn and was then sidelined with a niggling hamstring injury.
The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained filly had looked good in her two recent trials and was given a brilliant ride by Tim Clark. She jumped quickly, but allowed Blue Door to cross and take the lead settling neatly behind her on the fence.
When angled into the clear she launched a challenge to Blue Door, but took a good while to catch the other filly before going on to win by a length with talented colts Central Europe and Castillo King closing late behind them.

Tim Clark is now two for two on Chilly Girl.
“She was great,” Clark said.
“She’s returned really well, a bigger and stronger filly. She’s still a little bit new but there’s plenty of upside.”
Chilly Girl has banked $272,500 for her first two starts and the Darley Princess Series is in her sights.
“We will go to the Furious Stakes (G2 1200m) and then the Tea Rose (G2 1400m) before we decide at the end of 1400m whether we try her at a mile or keep her back to the shorter races,” Ryan said.
“I reckon she would get a mile.”
The best offspring of Trapeze Artist have had no issue getting a mile with his best colt Griff winning the Group I MRC Caufield Guineas, while his best filly Panova won the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks at 2000m.
Foaled and raised at Widden Stud, Chilly Girl is the 13th foal and tenth winner (first stakes-winner) from ten foals to race from stakes-winning General Nediym mare I Got Chills, who was 20 when she was born and retired from stud duties straight after.
Trapeze Artist stands at a fee of $27,500 at Widden NSW this spring.
