Portland Sky Debut Winner Impressive

Matt Laurie had a lot of success with brilliant Deep Field colt Portland Sky when he was racing and the trainer produced an eye-catching debut winner by the young Widden Stud based sire at Bendigo on Sunday.

Saturn Sky was backed as though unbeatable in the 1000m maiden and duly lived up to the expectation of punters.

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, Saturn Sky won by more than two lengths over another promising type in I Am Invincible filly Miss Dividend, who was also on debut.

A $120,000 Inglis Weanling Sale purchase from Mullaglass Stud for WS Bloodstock, Saturn Sky is a half-brother to stakes-placed Full Force and is the third winner from three foals to race from Jawhara, a placed Exceed and Excel mare from the family of champion sire Fastnet Rock.

Saturn Sky is the fourth winner this month for Portland Sky, who has had six winners in total this season.

Portland Sky stands at a fee of $8,800.
