Stratum Winner for Shadwell
Shadwell Australia have had plenty of fun with their stakes-winning Stratum filly Tawteen and produced another smart winner by the sire at Morphettville on Saturday when Lahqa broke the ice.
Trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Lahqa was resuming from a spell following two runs during the summer when she finished third and fourth.
A stronger filly this time around she took the 1100 metre maiden against the colts and geldings by a neck.
A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Rheinwood Pastoral, Lahqa is the fifth winner from five to race from solid producer Sky Risks (Fr), a stakes-placed import from the family of champion Australian 2YO Filly Hasna.
Sky Risks has a weanling colt by Sebring and will foal again in the spring to the leading young sire.
