Debut Winner for Star Witness
Star Witness has been on a winning roll since the start of the month adding a new debut winner to his tally on Thursday at Beaumont with three year-old Dixie Chick scoring as a short priced favourite.
The David Pfieffer trained filly was held up for a run in the straight after travelling in behind the leaders, but when she saw daylight sprinted very quickly to post an impressive half length win in the 1150 metre maiden.
Passed in shy of her $100,000 reserve by Bendaree Park Stud at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Dixie Chick is a half-sister to Hong Kong stakes performer Flagship Shine and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from good producer Dixie Paradise (USA).
Dixie Chick is the fifth winner since the start of the month for Star Witness, who is the leading Australian Second Crop Sire by winners with 27 on the board since August 1.
The 20910 Blue Diamond winner, Star Witness has 14 entries for the upcoming Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
