Stylish Hong Kong Win for Straight Gold
Hong Kong – Talented Stratum four year-old Straight Gold found his best form at Sha Tin on Sunday to score a stylish victory over 1000 metres.
The John Moore trained sprinter relished the straight course to power clear and win by three-quarters of a length, his overall record now three wins and four placings from 13 starts.
“He is aptly named because he is a straight-track specialist, that’s two wins and a second now over the course,” Moore said.
“He was much more relaxed today and that helped him a lot – his disposition and demeanor has improved out of sight, he has been half asleep at the track.”
Straight Gold showed considerable potential in his only three starts in Sydney as a juvenile before transferring to Hong Kong, winning with ease on debut at Canterbury before finishing third in the Group II ATC Silver Slipper and fourth in the Group II ATC Todman Stakes.
Foaled and raised at Widden Stud, Straight Gold was a $300,000 purchase from the Widden draft at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale for George Moore Bloodstock and is the second winner for top class WA mare Golden Delicious, who won 12 races highlighted by the Group III WATC Prince of Wales Stakes.
Widden Stud’s Snippetson was also represented by a winner on the program with four year-old gelding Multiexpress posting his first win when scoring a neck victory over 1200 metres for the Tony Cruz stable.
