$220,000 Written By Colt Tops MM Adelaide Finale
The top lot during Wednesday’s second and final session of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale was a handsome chestnut Written By colt from Sudden Wealth that sold for $220,000.
Consigned by Kambula Stud, he was knocked down to John Foote Bloodstock and is the third foal of stakes-placed Sudden Wealth, a half-sister to the dam of Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare and stakes-winner Lycurgus.
With John absent from the sale after completing inspections across the weekend his bloodstock representative Maree McEwan placed the winning bid for the star colt.
“There were a lot of good judges on him,” McEwan said. “That bodes well in that he ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people.
“He was a horse with good size and good substance, so we were happy to get him.”
Sudden Wealth was one of 144 mares covered last spring by Written By, who has already sired a Group III winner in The Novelist.
