Widden Finish as Third Leading Easter Vendor
Widden Stud finished the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as the third leading vendor by aggregate having sold 24 yearlings for $5.5 million in Session I as well as six additional youngsters in Session II for $1,045,000.
Highlights for us this year were a Redoute’s Choice colt from Fleeting Touch (USA) that made $600,000 to the bid of David Raphael.
The colt is a three-quarter brother to Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes winner Running Tall and full brother to this season’s Group I placed three year-old filly Sensibility.
A half-brother to our promising young sire Nicconi and five time Group I winner Niconero from star producer Nicola Lass also hit the mark with buyers.
By champion sire Fastnet Rock, the blue-blooded colt was bought by Tom Magnier for $500,000.
$500,000 was also the price paid for our Medaglia D’Oro (USA) filly from Cryptic Miss. Bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock, the filly is a half-sister to Group I Victoria Derby and ATC The BMW winner Fiveandahalfstar.
Tom Magnier was also the buyer of our Lonhro colt from Group II winner Ballet Society that fetched $425,000.
Session II proved exceptionally strong this year with our Northern Meteor colt from Saffie Darling making $640,000 to the bid of China Horse Club in that part of the sale to be our top seller.
We congratulate all our clients on their success and wish successful purchasers the best of luck with their new acquisitions.
