Adelaide Group Three for Driefontein

A $75,000 Magic Millions purchase for Star Thoroughbreds from the Widden Stud draft, Fastnet Rock mare Driefontein provided her connections with another big thrill when taking out the Group III SAJC RN Irwin stakes at Morphettville in Adelaide on Saturday.

The Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner in 2012, the Gai Waterhouse trained mare was presented in sparkling order for this assignment and took the 1100 metre contest by more than a length over dual Group I winner Platelet, her overall record now seven wins and five placings from 23 starts with prizemoney topping $1.8 million.

Driefontein was bred by Bylong Park Thoroughbreds and is one of five winners for slick stakes-winner Follow Gold, a sister to another speedy juvenile stakes-winner in Export Gold.
