Another Brilliant Debut Winner for Northern Meteor
Sydney – It was a Northern Meteor / Sebring trifecta at Canterbury on Wednesday in the juvenile fillies maiden with Northern Meteor filly Cosmic Endeavour bounding away from Sebring filly She’s Bella with another Northern Meteor in Siderlite finishing third.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Cosmic Endeavour was partnered by Nash Rawiller and made a one act affair of the event jumping swiftly to lead from a wide gate.
She then cruised comfortably in the lead before changing gear and powering away to win the 1200 metre dash by three and quarter lengths.
“She’s a very nice filly and has always shown us a bit,” said Nash Rawiller.
“Gai’s put plenty of work into her in the last few weeks and she’s really turned around.”
Waterhouse was thrilled with the result as she also trains the runner-up She’s Bella.
“Her first trial was good and then the second not as good,” she said.
“She used her gate speed today and took control, it was Nash at his best.”
A $230,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Willow Park Stud, Cosmic Endeavour was bred by Catherine Remond and is the third winner from three to race for stakes-winning Danehill (USA) mare Crevette, a sister to HK champion and Group I winner Fairy King Prawn and half-sister to Group I winner and sire Easy Rocking.
Cosmic Endeavour becomes the 12th winner for widden Stud’s Northern Meteor, whose 2013 fee has been set at $27,500.
