Another Winner for Northern Meteor
With placings at her last three starts this Northern Meteor filly was overdue for a win, Stellaglacier getting the job done at Geelong on Friday for the David Hayes stable.
Sent out favourite for the 1100 metre maiden, Stellaglacier was allowed to settle early by Chad Schofield and chimed in with a strong run when clear in the straight to snatch a neck win.
Passed in shy of her $60,000 reserve at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Stellaglacier was retained and runs for a partnership including her breeder Ray Willis of Rheinwood Pastoral.
She is the first winner for Ice Pack, an unraced half-sister by Bite the Bullet (USA) to stakes-winner Ain’t Seen Nothin from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.
Stellaglacier is the 16th first crop winner for Northern Meteor (15 in Australia, one in Singapore), who leads the Australian First Season Sires List by earnings and shares the lead on individual winners (15 apiece) with our very own Sebring.
