Big Swinger to Star for Trapeze Artist
With six winners in the past week including a metro double at Sandown on Wednesday, Trapeze Artist is finding his winning groove with exciting three year-old Big Swinger making a brilliant return at Pakenham last night for the in form Charlotte Littlefield stable.
Big Swinger won his first two starts last spring before running fifth in a Listed race at Flemington and was having his first run back from a summer spell in the Benchmark 64 event over 1200m.
Ridden by Craig Williams, who has ridden him in every start so far, Big Swinger made light of his 61.5kg to bolt in by three lengths as a heavily backed favourite and has now won three of four starts earning over $66,000.

“It was a really good performance and I just let him build into his work coming into the straight, he’s a big striding horse, a lovely horse,” said Craig Williams.
“He’s been very well trained, developed and managed by Charlotte Littlefield, his trainer, and all her team.
“Look at all these excited owners, it’s going to be a little bit past the kids’ bedtime now because of the delay, but he’s a very exciting horse, and they suggested that to me before I sat on him, and I loved what I felt.
“We’ve had to manage him because he’s used to telling us that he’s the boss, so Charlotte and her team have done a really good job and I’ve been enjoying being part of his journey.”
A $180,000 Magic Millions purchase from Arrowfield Stud for Hayfields Racing/Intel Bloodstock, Big Swinger is a three-quarter brother to multiple Group winner Sylvia’s Mother. He is the fourth winner from five to race from metro winning Bel Esprit mare Found The One, a full sister to Group I winner Bel Mer, the dam of this season’s Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes winner Bel Merci.
Trapeze Artist is the leading third crop sire by winners with 57 this season.
