Carnival Potential for Zoustar

 In 2013

Sydney – Northern Meteor colt Zoustar stamped himself as a Brisbane Winter Carnival prospect with a stylish all the way win at Hawkesbury on Saturday.

The Chris Waller trained colt looked good winning on debut at Canterbury on April 17 and ran right up to that form in leading most of the way to take the $100,000 juvenile event over 1300 metres by a length.

“That was a comfortable win for him,” said winning rider Hugh Bowman.

“It was only his second run and he’s still learning his trade, but my word he gave me a great feel and we’ll be hearing a lot more from him if he goes to Brisbane.

“Whatever he does now though, he’ll only be better again in the spring.”

Bred by Racetree, Zoustar was a $140,000 Magic Millions purchase for Iskander Racing from the Kulani Park draft and is the first winner for Zou Zou, a winning half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to stakes-placed Crestfallen and to the dam of Group II winner Dusty Star.

Zouzou went back to Northern Meteor in 2011 and produced a full sister to Zoustar last spring.

Zoustar is one of 10 first crop winners for record breaking Group I winner Northern Meteor, whose fee for 2013 has been set at $27,500.
