Class Record for Nicconi Colt
With form around Capitalist and Astern, Niccolance was always going to be the horse to beat in the 1100 metre colts and geldings maiden at Rosehill on Wednesday.
Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, the talented son of brilliant sprinter Nicconi started his career with a debut second to Astern at Randwick in December last year before chasing home Capitalist for second in the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Spelled after finishing fourth to Capitalist in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast, Niccolance has started only once since then and was having his first run back with a spate of wet tracks blamed for his delayed return.
On a good track today, Niccolance led throughout and kicked away to win by two lengths for Blake Shinn running class record time.
“It was good to see him do it and it will be a good confidence builder for the horse,” said Peter Snowden.
A $125,000 Magic Millions purchase for his former trainer Kevin Moses, whose wife Jenny shares in his ownership, Niccolance was bred and sold by boutique Victorian farm Burnewang North.
He is the first winner for Nonchalance, a half-sister by Lonhro to Group I winner Complacent.
