Dissident Crowned Australian Horse of the Year
Australia’s finest were honoured last night at the Australian Horse of the Year awards in Melbourne with the Widden Stud bred and sold Dissident the big winner being crowned Champion Sprinter and Australian Horse of the Year.
The Peter Moody trained son of Sebring won four Group I events in the season passed – the Memsie Stakes (1400m), C F Orr Stakes (1400m) and All Aged Stakes (1400m) and Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m).
It is the fifth time in the past six years a Moody-trained horse has won the honour with Typhoon Tracy winning in 2010 and Black Caviar taking the title three times.
Bred and sold by Widden Stud, Dissident was a $210,000 Magic Millions purchase that retired as a five-time Group I winner of $2million doing a sensational job for his owners and everyone connected with him.
A debut stakes-winner at two, a Classic winner at three and now an Australian Horse of the Year, Dissident is everything a racehorse should be.
