Doubtland a Perfect Three for Three

Three runners for three winners and two of them are metropolitan winners – that’s the record of Widden Stud’s young sire Doubtland, who racked up his third winner to keep the perfect record when Tom broke through for his first win at Sandown on Wednesday.

Trained by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Thomas Stockdale, Tom was second and third at his two previous starts at Moonee Valley and Seymour and put that race experience to good use for this assignment.

He settled off the pace and was able to chart a path along the inside to sneak up in the last stride to snatch a narrow win in the 1200m dash.

Tom was bred and retained to race by Diamond Park Breeding and Racing and is the seventh winner from nine foals to race from terrific producer Tripled, a half-sister by General Nediym to Group I winners Triple Honour and Heroic Valour as well as the dam of Group I winner Climbing Star and Group III winner Sansom.

The win was an emotional one as his namesake passed away last week as stable representative Shae Dinunzio explained.

Tom’s sire Doubtland has 12 yearlings for Inglis Premier and a further three for Magic Millions Adelaide.
