Widden Stud’s bargain priced Sebring son Supido will have a runner in the $20million Everest next month with confirmation on Friday that the Matthew Smith trained stallion Buenos Noches has been selected for the TAB slot.

A four year-old stallion with earnings topping $670,000, Buenos Noches was third in last year’s Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes and was not far away in the Group I Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap.

Bigger, stronger and better this spring, he was a fine last start third to Everest runners Private eye and Overpass in the Group II ATC The Shorts.

“We can just focus on The Everest and have the horse 110 per cent on the day,” Smith told Ray Thomas.

“He doesn’t needs to race again before The Everest but we might give him a barrier trial.”

Buenos Noches was a $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Widden Stud draft for his trainer  and has a big ownership group of stable clients.

There are now seven of 12 slots filled for The Everest with other confirmed horses being I Wish I Win, Mazu, Think About It, Sunshine in Paris, Private Eye, Overpass, and now Buenos Noches, with Giga Kick ruled out due to injury on Saturday morning.
