Fast Winner for Star Witness
The first three home in the 3YO maiden at Cranbourne on Thursday are all entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas with victory going to the hot favourite Fast Witness.
Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Fast Witness was second on debut at Geelong last month and was well supported by punters to make amends for that defeat.
He settled off the pace and looked to be in trouble after turning for home, but he knuckled down to his task doing his best work late to grab first starter Deep Field colt Who Dares with expensive Snitzel colt Joyrider in third place.
It was a nervous watch for favourite backers but Fast Witness ran down the roughie, Who Dares, to score 😮@cmaherracing @CranTurfClub pic.twitter.com/uOxDC3lUjI

Stable representative Lucy Yeomans thought blinkers would be the next move for Fast Witness to help him concentrate and that a Saturday race was likely to be his next target.
Not offered at auction , Fast Witness runs for a big group of owners including Ciaron Maher Racing and his breeder Sean Duke.
He is the fourth winner from four foals to race from winning Fastnet Rock mare Fast Shanti, a winning sister to Group II winner and sire Rothesay and half-sister to stakes-winner Sensei.
Fast Shanti is a grand-daughter of multiple Group I winner Canny Lass, a full sister to Golden Slipper winner Canny Lad with the family producing numerous Group I stars including Sepoy, Camarilla, Camarena, Guelph and more recently Bivouac.
Fast Witness looks a progressive horse for Widden Stud stalwart Star Witness, who sired 120 winners last season of over $7million in prizemoney.
Star Witness stands at Widden Victoria at a fee of $14,300.
