G3 Win for Sebring Mare Emeralds
Four year-old Sebring mare Emeralds contested some of the best three year-old fillies races last season and was never beaten far, so her win in the Group III ATC Angst Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday was no surprise.
The John Sargent trained mare put the writing on the wall with a fast finishing second in the Group II ATC Golden Pendant Stakes ta her previous start.
This time she arrived on the line to win by a short half head over quality Stratum mare Greysful Glamour.
A homebred for Jonathan Munz, she passed in shy of her $150,000 reserve at Inglis Easter and has now won three of 13 starts earning over $268,000 in prizemoney.
Emeralds is the first foal of the imported Aga Khan bred mare Doulmera (USA), a half-sister by Mr Greeley to Group I winner Dalkala from Group III winner Daltaya.
Emeralds is the 62nd stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s much missed sire Sebring.
