Golden Slipper Entries for Widden Sires

 In 2014

Widden Stud based sires are strongly represented in early entries for the 2015 $3.5 million Group I ATC Golden Slipper with our Golden Slipper winner Sebring the sire of 64 rising two year-olds with their eyes on the prize.

Among them is Edraak, the full brother to this season’s Group II winning juvenile and Golden Slipper fourth Believe Yourself.

The stunning chestnut colt was a $475,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell Australia from the Turangga Farm draft and has been entered by champion trainer David Hayes.

Northern Meteor has 46 entries, while our dual Group I winning sprinter Star Witness has 37 making him the equal most represented first season sire along with Hinchinbrook.

Heading the entries for Star Witness is his top selling yearling colt from Pachanga that sold for $450,000 at Magic Millions when secured by James Harron Bloodstock from the Glenlogan Park draft.

Bought for well-known Sydney owners Dr Edmund Bateman and his wife Belinda, the colt has been nominated by Gai Waterhouse.

Golden Slipper winner Stratum already has a Golden Slipper winner to his credit in Crystal Lily and has 23 entries with Contract Racing entering a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Crystal Lily.

Nicconi has 19 entries including his top seller this year, a colt from Divine Choice that made $150,000 for Widden Stud when bought by Jadeskye Racing at Magic Millions. He has been entered by leading trainer Gerald Ryan.
