I’m All The Talk, Zoustar, Va Pensiero Primed for Spring
Following the tragic death of his sire Northern Meteor last week, talented colt Zoustar would now be one of the hottest sire prospects in the country and he gave notice of a big spring campaign when trialling in good style at Rosehill on Monday.
The Chris Waller trained colt had not been seen since finishing second to Northern Meteor gelding Romantic Touch in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes on June 8 and has obviously done well during the short break.
He charged to the line for Jim Cassidy, going down by a short half head to Gary Portelli’s good Stratum colt I’m All The Talk with another Stratum colt in Va Pensiero a further head away in third place.
They put the 900 metres behind them in 53.8 seconds, which was the fastest of 15 heats run at that distance.
Zoustar has won three of his four starts to date highlighted by the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes, with his lone defeat coming in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes when he was blocked for a run and failed by just half a length.
The Group I ATC Golden Rose now looms large on the horizon for Zoustar and his value as a sire prospect will go through the roof if he can win the prestigious 1400 metre feature that has been the ticket to a stud career for past winners Court Command, Duporth, Denman and Toorak Toff.
