Impressive Debut for The Fast Lane
Hawkesbury, August 23 – Bart Cummings trained the sire of this exciting debut winner to win the Caulfield Guineas and run second in a Cox Plate, so it’s not surprising he has a good opinion of his son.
Three year-old colt The Fast Lane raced very greenly, but accelerated hard at the finish to score a short head win in the 1000 metre maiden at Hawkesbury as a well backed favourite, his performance likely to have earned him a slot in many punters black book of horses to follow.
The Fast Lane is only the second winner for Wonderful World, who won four races for Cummings and more than $1.3 million in prizemoney before retiring to Patinack Farm in 2008.
The Fast Lane was purchased by Cummings for $75,000 from the Widden Stud draft at the 2011 Magic Millions making him one of the most expensive yearlings from the first crop of his sire.
He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Kadena Lane and Destined to Be being one of of five winners from Cathie’s Lane.
The Fast Lane is entered for the Caulfield Guineas which was won by his sire in 2006.
