Impressive Win for General Peekay
Melbourne – 10 August, 2012
Making a good impression on Friday at the Geelong meeting on the synthetic track was promising three year-old General Peekay, who broke his maiden in commanding style.
The Mick Price trained son of General Nediym was a handy fourth when making his debut last month behind another Widden graduate in Planet Voyage and showed the benefit of race experience to post his first win in the 1200 metre maiden.
Sent out a heavily backed favourite, General Peekay beat the older horses in cruising clear to score by four and a half lengths.
Bred by Antony Thompson and foaled and raised at Widden Stud, General Peekay is the second winner from former smart Sydney metropolitan winner Barberton and was sold privately after being withdrawn from the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Barberton has a two year-old filly by Northern Meteor to come and a yearling filly by Haradasun.
