Lucky Omens Looks Good
Hong Kong – Scoring an impressive debut win at Sha Tin on Sunday for the Tony Cruz stable was talented three year-old Lucky Omens, whose full brother will be offered by Widden Stud as Lot 708 at the 2013 Magic Millions.
By Lucky Owners from Princess Carnegie, Lucky Omens is a full brother to former talented Sydney three year-old King’s Pact, who was third in the Group III ATC Gloaming Stakes.
Well supported by punters, Lucky Omens was sent out second favourite and despite settling near the rear for Matthew Chadwick, he unleashed a good finishing burst to sneak between runners and accelerate away to win the 1200 metre Class Four event by a length and a half.
“Tony (Cruz) says Lucky Omens is the spitting image of his father and this horse is still very green,” Chadwick told South China Morning Post.
“We’ve actually had trouble getting him passed by the stewards to go to the races because he is a bit slow out of the gates, but I think he’s a nice little horse. It wasn’t a great field, but he won with a bit of dignity today.
“He does his best work late and he needs more experience but he’ll be a smart horse when he learns what he’s doing.”
Lucky Omens was a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden draft in 2011 and looks set for a bright future.
His full brother will be offered by Widden as Lot 708 at Magic Millions during session Five.
