Magic Results for Sebring, Star Witness, Shamus Award and Your Song
Demand for the progeny of our star proven sires Sebring and Star Witness was as strong as ever at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Sebring had 21 yearlings average $186,429 with his top seller our stunning colt from Fastnongrass (USA) that made $650,000.
The colt is from a US stakes-winning grand-daughter of First Approach, who won the Grade I Belmont Flower Bowl Stakes, so it was no surprise to see US purchasers secure the colt with Spendthrift Australia joining forces with Jon Kelly.
His highest priced filly was a lovely type from Group III winning Snitzel mare Oakleigh Girl that fetched $450,000 for Yarraman Park when secured by Jadeskye Racing/Brad Widdup Racing.
Star Witness had 12 yearlings average $165,000 with his best result coming for a typically handsome chestnut colt from Just Incredible that made $360,000 for Fernrigg Farm when snapped up by Spendthrift Australia as the very last lot in Book One.
Not far behind was his top filly at $320,000, a powerhouse bay from Group III winner Dinkum Diamond that was consigned by Widden and bought by Rick Worthington/ Scone Bloodstock.
Shamus Award also put himself into the picture with four yearlings averaging $147,500 highlighted by our colt from Group II winner Text ‘n’ Hurley that made $200,000 when bought by Phillip Stokes .
Your Song had five yearlings average $134,000 with his top seller a Widden consigned filly from Sheeznodoubt that made $250,000 when bought by MiRunners Racing No. 1.
