The connections of Zousain mare Catch the Glory were bitterly disappointed last year when the speedy chestnut won the $300,000 The Warra at the Kembla standalone meeting, which was advertised as a G3 race, but not recognized internationally as such, however they made amends in the best way possible at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trained by Jason Coyle and ridden by Adam Hyeronimus, the four year-old produced a brilliant effort at her first run back from a spell to score a neck win over the race favourite Inkaruna in the $250,000 Group III ATC Birthday Card Stakes (1200m).

Jason Coyle was happy to get the Black Type win, but ruining the lost opportunity of a throw at the stumps in the G1 ATC The Galaxy (1100m) won by Marhoona.

“I was ashamed this morning not getting her in the Galaxy, given that were 10 horses hitting the line together. I think she would have been pretty competitive, but it’s a nice consolation,” he said.

“She’s a beauty. She tries hard, she’ll go home, she’ll eat, she does everything right – she’s easy to train.

“It’s easy to train good horses. It’s nice to have her back in the stable and I don’t think we’ve quite found our top with her.

“The old cliche, take her home and make sure she’s all right. She’s got better races in her.”

A $50,000 Magic Millions National Yearling purchase for her trainer from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft at Magic Millions, Catch the Glory has the overall record of six wins and four placings from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $626,000.

Bred by Kirkby-Miller Holdings , Catch the Glory is a half-sister to stakes-winner Power Beau and is the second stakes-winner from two foals to race from Catch That Cat, a metro winner by Tale of the Cat (USA) tracing back to fourth dam Group II placed Clear Apollo, a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Star Watch.

Catch the Glory now becomes the fourth stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s Zousain.
