New Winner for Star Witness
Dual Group I winner Star Witness posted his eighth winner – six in Australia , two in South Africa – at Wagga on Monday when talented filly Nagging opened her account with a dominant victory.
Trained by Mark Gee, Nagging overcame a wide gate to win the 1200 metre maiden running away by more than two lengths at just her third start.
A $35,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Meringo Stud, she runs for the Hartnell family, who bred the mighty Takeover Target.
Nagging is the third winner form three foals to race from Spinning World (USA) mare Eckland, who comes from the family of stakes-winner Fluoro.
Eckland died last year, but has two more colts to follow by Star Witness, who stands at Widden Stud this year at a fee of $22,000 and has seven individual stakes horse to his credit.
