Nicconi Sprinter Wins in Dubai
Six year-old Nicconi gelding Faatinah was back in action at Meydan in Dubai on Thursday night winning the Longines Ladies Record Handicap over five furlongs on turf.
Trained by the Hayes / Dabernig partnership at Lindsay Park, Faatinah raced successfully in Dubai last year with a win and a second there from three starts.
Faatinah cruised clear to win by a dominant two and a half lengths.
He has the overall record of seven wins and eight placings from 31 starts with prizemoney topping $800,000.
A two time Group II winner previously, Faatinah is a homebred for Shadwell and is the best of four winners from imported Danehill mare Alqwah (IRE), who comes from the family of NZ Horse of the Year King’s Chapel.
Alqwah produced a full brother to Faatinah last year.
Faatinah is one of five Australian stakes-winners this season for Widden Stud’s Nicconi, who is poised for a good Magic Millions with strong representation at the Gold Coast next week.
