Sebring and Northern Meteor Babies to Trial
Sydney, September 6 – The first official Sydney two year-old trials of the season will be held at Randwick on Monday with three heats featuring 14 youngsters including several by boom first season sires Sebring and Northern Meteor.
Running in the first heat is a colt that has been spruiked for some time by the Waterhouse stable as a potential Breeders Plate candidate in Pitcrew.
The handsome chestnut was a $360,000 purchase for Gai Waterhouse / James Harron Bloodstock from the Widden Stud draft at Magic Millions and is a half-brother to Group I winner Absolut Glam and stakes-winner Nobby Snip being from the fine producer Pine Away (USA).
Flying the flag for Northern Meteor in the same heat is Shine On, a Gooree Stud homebred trained by Anthony Cummings.
Shine On is a half-brother to two minor winners from the Gulch mare Pilya (USA), who comes from the family of US Group I winners Manila and Stately Don.
The second heat features another colt by Northern Meteor, this one prepared by Gai Waterhouse and purchased by Star Thoroughbreds for $80,000 from the Carramar Park draft at Magic Millions.
Mr Jackman is certainly a well named youngster given his dam is stakes-placed Miss Broadway, who is by General Nediym.
The last of the three heats is for fillies and again Sebring has a representative in the Bede Murray trained Sea Sovereign, a $70,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Makybe draft.
Sea Sovereign is from the minor winner This Way, a half-sister by Street Cry (IRE) to champion stayer Tie the Knot and stakes-winners Hood and Dream Ballad.
