Seven Length Winner for Stratum
Ballarat – This Peter Moody trained Stratum two year-old was in a race of his own at Ballarat on Thursday, gapping his rivals to win by seven lengths, which is not surprising when you take a look at his pedigree.
Talented type Weinholt was having his second start following a debut fourth before Christmas and has obviously gone ahead in leaps and bounds.
He sat outside the leader for Daniel Stackhouse and had every other horse off the bit on the turn before clearing out to win the 1200 metre maiden in commanding fashion.
Weinholt races for his breeder Basil Nolan of Raheen Stud and is the first foal of Annamarie, a blue-blooded Darley cast off that comes from the family of Group I stars Helmet and Epaulette.
Annamarie hasn’t had a foal since Weinholt, but is now back in foal to Stratum so his win will have been very well received by all at Raheen Stud.
Stratum has seven yearlings on offer at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale next month.
