Smart Northern Meteor Winner for Moraitis

Popular Sydney owner/breeder Nick Moraitis featured with a smart winner at Canterbury on Wednesday when Northern Meteor gelding Meteoros did best in a thrilling finish to nose out Sebring filly Seritza to win by a short head.

Resuming from a spell after placing second twice in metropolitan company in his first preparation, the Joe Pride trained Meteoros was well tuned up with a couple of trials under his belt and can no doubt go on  to better wins.

Meteoros is the third winner from three foals to race from Danehill Dancer (IRE) mare Fairytale Dancer, who comes from the family of Kiwi Group I winner Ekstreme and Group winners Dual Treasures and Blackrock College.

Fairytale Dancer has a yearling filly by Northern Meteor that will be offered by Macquarie Stud as Lot 378 and has another colt foal by the same sire to follow.

Ill-fated Northern Meteor has 20 yearlings catalogued for the 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
