Smart Sebring Winner for Moroney
Gelding might be the making of talented Sebring three year-old Tulsa, who looked the goods with an easy win at Pakenham on Tuesday.
A big leggy chestnut in the mould of Criterion, the Mike Moroney trained Tulsa found the line with a rush to win the 1100 metre maiden by two lengths as favourite at his first run back from a spell.
Third at Echuca at his only previous run, Tulsa obviously has a bright future and has been entered in all the Melbourne spring majors as well as the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney.
A $240,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Attunga Stud draft for Paul Moroney Bloodstock, Tulsa is the fifth winner from Morning Dews, an unraced half-sister by Peintre Celebre (USA) to stakes-winner Allez France from the family of Golden Slipper winner Burst.
Sebring was third on the Australian General Sires List by earnings last season, but with the retirement of his star galloper Dissident will be looking for new prospects to follow in his footsteps and Tulsa might well fill the bill.
