Snippetson Just Misses a Group One Win
Talented Snippetson juvenile Fuerza ran the race of his life on Saturday at Randwick when leading by a big margin before being run down in the last stride by race favourite Guelph to run second in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes.
Beaten a nose on the line, the Bjorn Baker trained colt would lay claim to being the ‘best maiden in Australia’ his overall record now four wins and a third from seven starts with prizemoney of $220,000.
Third in the race was Northern Meteor colt Equator who also confirmed himself as a serious horse of the future, his gallant defeat coming after two brilliant wins at his only previous starts.
Beaten a nose and a short neck, Equator will surely find a stakes race of his own to win sooner rather than later.
Our other young gun sire Sebring was also in good form on Saturday siring Tonyboy to finish second in the Listed MRC Catanachs Jewellery Stakes at Caulfield and Bring a Ring to run third in the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes in Adelaide.
