Stratum in Form
Sydney – Leading young sire Stratum was in good form on Saturday with a Rosehill winner in smart filly Gold Epona and a new stakes horse in promising two year-old Sworn Revenge.
Progressive Kris Lees trained filly Gold Epona made a successful transition from winning a midweek metro race last start to a Saturday Benchmark 75 event, ploughing through the heavy conditions to score a tenacious half head win.
Retained to race by her breeders, Gold Epona has been a model of consistency winning three times and placing three times from seven starts with prizemoney of $124,155.
She is one of three winners from Gold Ransom, a half-sister by Red Ransom (USA) to Group III winner Zupaone from Group I winner Shizu.
Gold Ransom was one of 135 mares covered by Stratum last year.
Sent to Adelaide by her trainer John Sadler to contest the Listed SAJC Queen Adelaide Stakes, two year-old Stratum filly Sworn Revenge acquitted herself well in running second to the blue-blooded winner Za Moulin Rouge.
The filly had no luck when finishing second on debut at Sandown in January and her turn in the winner’s circle is sure to come.
