Stratum Mare Back to Best

 In 2014

Triple Group I winner Streama is never far away in the big races and seized her chance to return to top form at the Gold Coast on Saturday when taking out the Group II AD Hollindale Cup.

Prepared by Guy Walter, Streama was a last start fourth in the Group I ATC Queen of the Turf Stakes and made light of the heavy conditions on Saturday to score a half-length win in the 1800 metre weight-for-age feature.

Proven at 2400 metres having won the Group I AJC Australian Oaks at three, Streama is likely to head towards the Group I BRC Doomben Cup in two weeks time.

Retained to race by her breeder Geoffrey Coghlan and his family, Streama is the best of seven winners from Sovereign Red mare Pensiamo, who died in 2011.

Pensiamo is a half-sister to the grand-dam of another top class stakes horse in Decision Time, who has won over $1.5 million in prizemoney.

Streama has the overall record of nine wins and 13 placings from 33 starts with prizemoney topping $2.3 million and is one of 22 stakes-winners by Golden Slipper winner Stratum, who stands this spring at a fee of $38,500.
