Talented Sandown Winner for Star Witness

Exciting young sire Star Witness has been quick to make an impact this spring with a new stakes-winner in Well Sprung and a Group placed filly in Kimberley Star, the handsome chestnut featuring at Sandown on Wednesday with another highly progressive winner in Stellar Collision.

An impressive debut winner at Swan Hill for the powerful Darren Weir stable last month, Stellar Collision carried that good form to town in harder grade. He surged home to win over 1200 metres by a long neck.

Stellar Collision is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas in October.

Not offered at auction, Stellar Collision is the first winner for well-bred More Than Ready (USA) mare What an Impact, who comes from the family of Group II winner Elegant Fashion and her Group III winning daughter Star Fashion.

Further back the family traces to celebrated matriarch Highclere, whose many Group I winning descendants include the likes of Nashwan, Nayef, champion Japanese sire Deep Impact and imported Australian Group I winner My Kingdom of Fife.

Stellar Collision is the third winner this season for Champion Two and Three Year Old colt Star Witness, who has taken an early lead on the Australian Second Season Sires List by earnings.

Star Witness stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
