Widden Stud enjoyed terrific results at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this week selling 48 yearlings for $3.4million.
Our best result came with a cracking Trapeze Artist colt from Lady Marvel that made $310,000 when bought by Dean Harvey of Baystone Farm and was the most expensive yearling for his sire at Classic
He is the third foal of blue-blood More Than Ready (USA) mare Lady Marvel, a close relation of champion mare More Joyous from the famed Joie Denis family that bristles with Group I winners.
Lady Marvel is married to Trapeze Artist and has a colt to follow and is back in foal to him again.
Zousain was the most represented first season sire at the sale and was the most successful freshman sire by aggregate with 21 yearlings selling for $2million and change at an average of $99,333 offering a great return on his $19,800 service fee.
Zousain had seven yearlings sell for $100,000 or more in Book 1 with his top seller the half-brother to stakes-winner Garibaldi from Sonnenblume that made $320,000 for Carramar Park when bought by Clarken Bloodstock.
Out other exciting young sire Written By proved popular with 17 yearlings selling for up to $230,000 with his top selling colt from Exotic offered by Newhaven Park and purchased by James Harron Colts Partnership for $230,000.
Proven performer Nicconi had his usual good results with his top seller a lovely filly offered by Milburn Creek from Brightest Star that made $220,000 to the bid of Muntos, Qld.
