Widden Offer Cup Week Specials
At Widden, we believe in the importance of growing the Australian foal crop and our focus is on helping breeders get more mares in foal to maximise their breeding opportunities.
With the peak-season rush behind us, there is greater availability across our stallion roster, offering increased flexibility with covering times.
Our late-season specials provide breeders with outstanding value across a selection of proven performers and exciting young sires, making it the perfect opportunity to secure a quality mating and make the most of the season.
Small breeders play an essential role within the industry, and their continued involvement is a vital part of our breeding community. We remain committed to supporting smaller breeders, recognising their significant contribution, and ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive long-term.
“Without small breeders, there are no big breeders. They’re the backbone of the industry and they’re what we’re built on.”
– Antony Thompson (SEN Podcast – From Giddy Up 27/10/26)
The Time Is Now..
Excellent fertility results across the Widden roster this season give breeders added confidence when considering late-season matings.
Whether your mare missed on an earlier cover, foaled late or simply wasn’t ready, our late-season offers provide an excellent opportunity to get her back on track and give yourself the best chance to grow your next foal crop.
We all know later foals still win…
Just this month, horses foaled in October or November accounted for 18 Stakes Winners, including Group 1 winners Cosmic Crusader and Global Goal, alongside recent 2YO Listed Debutant winner Soldi, all demonstrating that late foals can still go on to compete successfully at the highest level!
Looking back over the past five years, Champion Group 1 winners Anamoe, Nature Strip and Think It Over were all foaled in mid-November, with each of their dams covered in December!
Later foals sell…
Across the 2026 yearling sale series, foals born after 1 October accounted for a significant proportion of catalogue entries, representing 24% of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Book 1 and Book 2 Yearling Sale, 36.8% of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, 43.2% of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and 41% of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Late-Covered Mares Still Deliver Strong Sale Results
The following 2026 yearling sale results from mares covered in November demonstrate that later covers can still achieve entry into early sales and produce high value yearlings.
| SIRE | DAM | 2026 SALE | PRICE |
| Jacquinot | Bombshell Babe | MM January Yearlings | $280,000 |
| Trapeze Artist | Sally’s Realm | MM January Yearlings | $100,000 |
| Zousain | Happy Pilgrim | Inglis Classic | $300,000 |
| Zoustar | Paredo | Inglis Easter | $1,100,000 |
Buyers judge the individual, not the birth date.
