Widden Sires in Golden Slipper Contention

Golden Slipper nominations were released this week, so we’ve had a look to see how our sires have fared with entries for the world’s richest juvenile event.

A total of 1614 horses were nominated for the $3.5million feature to be run at Rosehill next year representing a decrease of 75 on the 1689 juveniles nominated for the 2013 Golden Slipper.

Our young guns Northern Meteor and Sebring again have big representation, the former with 52 entries and the latter with 33.

Golden Slipper winner Stratum has already sired a Golden Slipper winner in Crystal Lily and has 26 entries for next year.

Explosive sprinter Nicconi had some sensational yearlings this year in his first crop and 33 of them have been nominated, while our other young sire Dreamscape has 14 from his debut crop.

Snippetson also has four entries, so our sires are in with a real shot at the title.
