Zoustar Looks Forward to Spring

 In 2014

The star studded Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last week saw a number of mares purchased specifically to visit Widden Stud’s exciting new recruit Zoustar, a dual Group I winning son of Northern Meteor.

“We are understandably thrilled to secure some cracking mares for Zoustar in partnership with Qatar Bloodstock,” said Widden Stud’s Marketing and Stallion Nominations Manager Ryan McEvoy.

“Sheikh Fahad and David Redvers are particularly excited. The commitment has ways been to ensure Zoustar is supported with quality mares that quite rightly a horse of his calibre deserves.”

Secured for Zoustar by Widden Stud/Qatar Bloodstock were Group II winning Stravinsky (USA) mare Satinka (in foal to Fastnet Rock) for $460,000, stakes-winner Assertive Eagle (in foal to Denman) for $400,000 and Group III winner Solar Charged ( in foal to Sebring) for $650,000.

“Satinka is a beautiful young mare who won at Group II level on three occasions and has two very promising fillies with Chris Waller,” said McEvoy.

“Stakes winner Assertive Eagle is from an outstanding black type family which just continues to produce and Solar Charged is just an absolute peach who of course was a Golden Slipper favourite after winning the Kindergarten Stakes by 5 lengths.

“All three young mares are in foal to terrific stallions and will be great additions to what is shaping up as a truly unbelievable book of mares.”

Widden Stud also purchased brilliant Group II winning mare Flying Snitzel for $410,000 and she will be covered by Zoustar in her first season at stud.

Also bought from the sale this week by breeders to visit Zoustar were half-sisters to Group I winners Apercu and Happy Trails, while Woodside Park were also active and have secured some lovely young stakes winners for this most exciting young sire.

Zoustar will have much to look forward to when he hops off the plane back in Australia with other notable mares confirmed for him including: Bella Maddalena, dam of Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Military Rose; Miss Stellabelle, Group III winner in her first season at stud; Group III winner Fuddle Dee Duddle in her first season at stud; Cute Emily, young Group III winner; and Faster Pussycat, dam of three stakes-winners Gai’s Choice, Peron, Atmospherical; young stakes-winner Choice Words; young stakes-winner Combat Kitty; young stakes-winner Journey; and Petty Cury, Group III winner in first season at stud.
