50th Winner for Nicconi
Nicconi has really started to hit his straps since the start of this year and posted his 50th winner for the season when House of Nicole saluted at Cessnock on Monday.
A three year-old filly prepared by Rick Worthington, House of Nicole had been placed six times previously and broke through to win by half a length over 1150 metres.
An $80,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft, House of Nicole is a half-sister to stakes-placed Living Pegasus and is the third winner for Bella Moxie, who died in 2014, her final foal a filly by Star Witness.
With 50 winners, Nicconi is a clear second to only I Am Invincible on the Australian Second Season Sires List by winners and is third by earnings to Medaglia D’Oro (USA) and I Am Invincible with three stakes-winners – Group II winners Nicoscene and Chill Party as well as $400,000 Inglis Scone Guineas winner Loved Up.
Priced at just $11,000 this spring, Nicconi looks to be amazingly good value in comparison to his peers.
