Two State Metro 2YO Double for Snippetson
The open two year-old event at Randwick on Saturday provided a trifecta for Widden Stud based sires with Snippetson filly Pierrette outpointing Sebring colt Sebring Sun with Stratum filly Flamboyant Lass in third place.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Pierrette was super professional with two trials under her belt and jumped straight through to lead for Winona Costin and was never headed.
The winner scored by half a neck and is a homebred for clients of the Waterhouse stable.
She is the third winner from three foals to race from Fasliyev (USA) mare My Pirouette, who was covered by another of the Widden sires in Dreamscape last spring.
Snippetson then made it a two state metropolitan juvenile double when the Liam Birchley trained filly Hot Snippety saluted at Doomben.
A modest $13,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Widden Stud, Hot Snippety bolted in to win by nearly three lengths.
Hot Snippety is the second winner for unraced Desert Sun (GB) mare Desert Symphony, who was covered last spring by Star Witness.
Snippetson stands at the value fee of $8,800.
