Nicconi Quinella
Dual Group I winning sprinter Nicconi added a new winner to his tally at Muswellbrook on Friday when the Greg Bennett trained Lucky Nic saluted.
Second on debut at Hawkesbury 10 days ago, Lucky Nic showed the benefit of that run to come out and win the Vinery Stud 2YO Country Plate by a long neck over another Nicconi youngster in Nick’s Best, who won at Gosford last month.
Not offered at auction, Lucky Nic is the first foal of Lucky in Love, a winning Lucky Owners mare from the family of world champion sprinter Sacred Kingdom.
Lucky Nic is the eighth winner for Nicconi, six of them in Australia, led by metro winners Nicoscene and Festivity, and one each in New Zealand and Korea.
Nicconi has had a fee reduction this year and looks outstanding value at $13,200.
