$400,000 for Star Witness Colt
Well known Sydney owner Alan Bell has a knack for unearthing a good horse and he was in action at Magic Millions on Thursday securing a son of dual Group I winner Star Witness for $400,000.
Consigned for sale by Widden Stud, the handsome chestnut is a half-brother to Group placed sprinter Straight Gold and is the fourth foal of tough and brilliant Group III winning sprinter Golden Delicious.
“He’s a glamour horse,” Alan Bell told Sky Racing.
“Every foal from this mare has been a lovely animal and he’s probably the best of the lot.
“This horse is an athlete that stands out.””
Some of the horses Bell has bought and raced include Group I stars such as Schillaci, Grand Armee, Primacy, Magic of Money and Dupain, not to mention current unbeaten sprint star Deep Field, so this colt has big shoes to fill.
His dam Golden Delicious has another filly foal to follow by Star Witness, whose oldest progeny are just two year-olds, and was covered last year by another of the Widden sires in Stratum.
