A Winner at Last
After eight frustrating minor placings talented gelding Prince Stratum finally shed maiden status with a dominant win at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Prepared by Robert Smerdon, the four year-old son of Stratum was resuming from a spell and turned in a powerful performance to win the 12000 metre maiden by two and a quarter lengths as favourite.
A $25,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Manaroa Bloodstock from the Widden Stud draft, Prince Stratum has never finished further back than fourth in 10 starts earning more than $40,000 in prizemoney.
Bred by Teeley Assets, Prince Stratum is the third winner for Princess Ruhie, who comes from the family of stakes-winner Roadagain.
