Another Widden Sold Stakes-Winner
The $140,000 Listed Ortensia Stakes at Scone on Saturday was won by evergreen sprinter Testarhythm, a $110,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Widden Stud.
The six year-old son of Testa Rossa was first up from a spell in the 1100 metre sprint, but astute trainer Darren Smith had him fit and ready to fire with two recent trials under his belt.
Easy in the market starting at $14, Testarhythm proved too good in travelling smoothly throughout for Tim Clark before forging clear to win by a length.
“It’s just good to see horses like this still winning,” Tim Clark said.
“He’s been a good horse to his owners and deserves a win.”
Bred by Grant Briscoe, Testarhythm has won six races from 20 starts earning more than $400,000 in prizemoney.
He is from stakes-placed Dancing Bridges (NZ), a half-sister to Group II winner Te Akau Rose and to the dam of stakes-winner Cavalry Rose.
