Dissident Gallant in Defeat
Cox Plate contender Dissident lost no admirers with a desperately close second in the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Peter Moody trained four year-old son of Sebring has been on fire this spring winning the Group I MRC Memsie Stakes and VRC Makybe Diva Stakes at his first two runs back before going down by a short half head to Trust in a Gust.
Burdened with top weight of 58 kg, he gave the winner 6kg and despite protesting against him, had to be content with the second placing.
Dissident was a $210,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Widden Stud draft and has won $1.4 million in prizemoney with the promise of more to come this spring!
