Kiwi Stakes-winner for Stratum
New Zealand – Golden Slipper winning sire Stratum featured in New Zealand on Saturday where his three year-old filly Misstrum resumed from a spell to score a stylish win in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie.
Last seen when winning the Listed Great Northern Foal stakes at the same track back in May, Misstrum picked up where she left off, beating a strong field of 14 to win the 1400 metre contest by a head.
Australian bred Misstrum was purchased from the Sefton Park draft at the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by leading New Zealand based bloodstock agent Michael Wallace for $135,000 and is trained by Roger James.
She has the overall record of two wins and a second from four starts and looks a bright prospect with the Group I New Zealand 1,000 Guineas on November 17 a likely target this preparation.
Misstrum is a half-sister to stakes-placed Cinecitta and is one of four winners from stakes-winning Barathea (IRE) mare Malagra Miss.
She is one of 13 stakes-winners by outstanding young sire Stratum, who stands at Widden Stud at a fee of $44,000 this spring.
